Good news for fans of the Spice Girls and their 2018 reunion plans, it appears a tour might still be on the cards.
Victoria Beckham crushed dreams everywhere when she told Vogue magazine she wouldn’t be joining her bandmates for a full world tour.
Earlier this month the girls had been pictured at Geri Horner’s house, in their first full get together since 2012, as they discussed ‘exciting new projects.’
According to an insider, the girls have been in talks with several promoters are offering millions of pounds for the girls to play ‘lucrative stand-alone gigs across four continents’ rather than a lengthy worldwide tour.
A source revealed to The Sun : “Given the family situations, committing to a gruelling mega world tour was always a tough ask. When they got back together this month to discuss reforming, a mammoth tour was dismissed by the majority.”
The insider added: “The idea of playing a few huge shows in various cities was one that received the most interest.
“However, that’s just one aspect of the comeback they’re exploring, with the TV show element their likely priority, especially in the short-term.”
Fans had been left bitterly disappointed after Victoria Beckham shot down hopes of seeing the girls together in concert.
During an interview with Vogue magazine Posh said: “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour. It was so great to see the girls. We had such a fun lunch. It was really, really, really lovely.
“I still speak to them all individually, but for us all to get together was really lovely. There’s something so strong in the message of what the Spice Girls stood for.
“What is that in the future? What does that look like? We were just bouncing ideas around. Brainstorming. But this [fashion] is what I do.”
While the hopes of a tour still hang in the balance, the chart-toppers are also said to be working on a new TV talent show to find the next generation’s big girl band.
Driven by Simon Fuller – the manager who helped catapult the girls to world domination in the 90s – the new show would see the girls trying to put together an international act.
“Simon has been formulating this girl band idea for over two years. He wants to create an international band,” a source told The Sun.
It’s thought the show’s format would be loosely based on Take That’s Let It Shine.
“One member will be selected from China, another from India and then someone will be from the UK,” the source added.
“The plan is to bring people together and add some diversity to the charts.”
