The mind is a funny thing. It can play the strangest tricks on us when we’re least expecting it.
Take this simple, innocent photo of a residential street for example.
It’s been confusing lots of people, and no one can really make out what is going on.
But it’s just two photos of the same street taken from slightly different angles, right?
It turns out this picture shows two identical photos next to each other, but the positioning makes them look different.
But don’t worry, we’re not the only ones whose minds have been blown by the photo, which was shared on Reddit .
Many of the site’s users are also baffled by the two photos.
One wrote: “For me it looks like the roads are going in different directions, like one road forking off. It’s hard to believe the two streets are actually parallel.”
Another added: “This is super weird. I can tell that it’s the same picture, but something makes my brain not want to believe it. I wonder what specifically causes that to happen?”
But one commenter believes he knows why our brain thinks it’s seeing different things.
They wrote: “It’s because the two streets come together at the bottom of the pictures.
“Your brain tries to perceive this as one image with a fork in the road and therefore the street in the picture on the left must be at a different angle than the picture on the right.”
Very, very stange.
