Coronation Street fans were left feeling “uneasy” tonight as David Platt and Josh Tucker spoke for the first time tonight.
The pair ended up having a small argument about the upcoming boxing match – but viewers couldn’t help but feel agitated knowing what is to happen later this week.
The garage’s new mechanic Josh, played by Ryan Clayton, is helping to organise a charity boxing match in memory of murdered Luke Britton, who Josh has replaced.
The newbie has offered to help bosses Tyrone and Kevin organise the event and seems to set his sights on David – played by Jack P Shepherd – in their first scene together.
Josh, who’s also a personal trainer, is going to drug and sexually assault David after they enjoy a drunken night out together.
Last month, the Mirror revealed that the ITV soap will be tackling the sensitive issue of male rape for the first time in its 57-year history.
Viewers won’t see anything too explicit though, and will instead see David waking up in Josh’s bed and realising what’s happened.
But fans of the ITV soap still couldn’t help but feel uneasy about the scene this evening, knowing what was to come.
One tweeted: “Can’t enjoy these David / Josh scenes knowing where it’s going #corrie.”
While another commented: “Its weird seeing David and Josh be friendly together, since we know what’s going to happen #CoronationStreet #Corrie #josh #david.”
A third remarked: “Don’t know if I can continue watching #Corrie with what’s to come David needs to stay away from that new character josh.”
One tweeted: “Feels awful watching scenes with Josh and David when you know what’s gonna happen soon.”
