An enthralling video showing a rare white tiger sneaking up on a zoo visitor before attempting to attack him through the glass of its enclosure has been posted online.

The 30-second clip was filmed at China’s Chiemlong Safari Park last month.

A man can be seen calmly standing with his back to the animal as he poses for pictures while the big cat stalks him silently.

The tiger only pounces, with frightening speed, when the man turns around.

Luckily the glass held up to the attack and the man escaped unharmed.

White tigers are a sub-species of Bengal tigers and are very rare in the wild.

One can only be born when both parents carry a certain gene, meaning they are only seen once every 10,000 births.

Fortunately for the shaken zoo goer the glass holds up to the sneak attack

Fully grown they can reach 10ft in length and weigh more than 250kg.

The park, in Guangzhou City, is home to the world’s largest collection of white tigers and also features a world-class panda centre.
