Eamonn Holmes has rubbished claims he said no to almost one million pounds to take part in Celebrity Big Brother.
According to the Daily Star Sunday, the mild-mannered presenter had been offered £800,000 to star on the Channel 5 reality show.
But 58-year-old Eamonn denied the claims on today’s This Morning.
“The words you will never hear from my lips are: ‘I don’t need the money,'” he admitted.
And he revealed that his wife Ruth Langsford won’t let him do the show.
“She doesn’t allow me to do it,” he said.
“No I just think they’d have you in your pants snoring,” Ruth added.
It was previously reportedly Eamonn said no to the eye-watering amount of money, telling producers: “I don’t need the cash.”
According to a source, he’s been high on CBB producers’ list of stars to enter The most famous house In Britain, but he refuses year after year.
“Eamon has turned down a number of offers over the years. This one is the biggest so far at £800,000. But no amount of money could tempt him,” the source told the newspaper.
“He’s said it isn’t about the money because he doesn’t need to earn more cash than he already does through his TV projects,” the source continued.
However it would seem Eamonn could yet enter the house in another way.
“Eamonn’s been involved in debating tasks in the past and he’s said he’d do something like that again,” the source claims.
Eamonn recently sat stageside on Strictly Come Dancing as wife Ruth Langsford competed on the show.
Channel 5 bosses don’t comment on rumoured housemates or how much stars get paid.
Celebrity Big Brother is due to kick off on Tuesday 2 January 2018 on Channel 5 at 9pm with an all-female line-up rumoured to include Louise Thompson and Sinitta.
