Life really is like a box of chocolates, with everything getting smaller and more expensive.
Even Quality Street, the grand dame of tinned chocolate has fallen victim to ‘shrinkflation’ in recent years.
This is not the only confectionery crime Quality Street are guilty of, either.
Have you ever noticed how your favourite Quality Street chocolate is always in short supply, whereas the ones no self-respecting fan likes – Toffee Penny, we’re looking at you – are always in abundance?
For every The Purple One or Green Triangle you’re scrabbling round for and getting in actual fist-fights over (or is that just us?), there seems to be about 39 Coconut Eclairs.
Well, there’s a pretty solid reason why, and unless you happen to actually enjoy Toffee Pennies, you’re not going to like it.

As for why the different types of chocolates are divvied up in this mysterious way, a Nestlé spokesperson told MirrorOnline:
“Everyone has their favourite Quality Street sweets. We try to get a good mix in each pack but not all packs are the same and sometimes they will have more or less of your favourites.
“We have increased the variety of sweets from 12 to 13, we brought back Toffee Deluxe by popular demand, and you get more sweets in a Quality Street tub than in any other twistwrap brand. Those who love the Purple Ones or the Strawberry Delights can get a giant pack filled with their favourites.”
For now though, just be glad you’re equipped with this important knowledge, and remember to be ruthless.
