Strictly Come Dancing’s Mollie King and AJ Pritchard appeared to confirm their romance with some very revealing reactions to Claudia Winkleman’s kissing joke.
The couple, who looked very close on the sofa after discovering they were through to the semis, had their relationship questioned by Tess Daly on Saturday night’s show.
And after it was revealed they spent 300 hours training on tonight’s results show, fellow presenter Claudia cheekily claimed that Mollie and AJ had spent ‘only half that time kissing’.
The audience let out and audible gasp while Mollie started laughing and looked up to the ceiling to hide her emotions.
AJ looked stunned before also looking upwards, while their fellow dancers were left open mouthed after hearing Claudia’s remarks.
The professional dancer kept his arm tight behind Mollie’s back while she put her hand over her fface.
The rest of the competitors started chanting for them to kiss, as Claudia admitted she was “joking”.
The hilarious moment came after Mollie revealed her emotions after making it to next week’s semi-final.
She said: “I can’t put it into words. I’m just over the moon. And I’m so grateful to you [AJ]. We train every hour of the day. Poor AJ must be like ‘not again’. I’m so grateful and thank you to everyone who has voted for us
AJ added: “Your dedication is just outstanding, you’re willing to train for over 300 hours.”
Quickly getting her joke in, Claudia said: “And only half that time is spent kissing.”
Strictly viewers took to Twitter after hearing Claudia’s hilarious joke.
One viewer said: “GOT TO LOVE CLAUDIA FOR TEASING MOLLIE AND AJ ABOUT KSSING FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A ROW”
Another added: “Claudia said what we were all thinking about Mollie and AJ #strictly ”
A third said: “Claudia to Mollie and AJ: and only half that time is spent kissing! IM LAUGING SO HARD, THEIR REACTIONS #Strictly ”
This came after Tess Daly also got into speculation about their romance on last night’s show.
During the musicals-themed Strictly, Mollie and AJ danced a romantic Rumba to Hopelessly Devoted To You from Grease.
At the end, AJ leaned over her and they looked very close.
As they walked over to Tess, the host couldn’t help but ask whether they had actually kissed.
She questioned: “Did you actually kiss her on the lips?”
The judges were also really feeling the love – particularly Bruno.
Grinning knowingly, Bruno remarked: “I could feel the fireworks myself… i never thought you would be able to translate these emotions into such brilliant motions.”
This comes after AJ refused to to give the Mirror a straight answer when asked outright: “Are you dating?”
Coyly, he says: “You’ll have to keep watching the journey.
“Hopefully we’ll get to do the tour, that would make us very happy.” The UK live tour, which starts in January, would certainly give dance pro AJ, 23, and The Saturdays star Mollie, 30, more time together.
This week they get to see how it feels to be girlfriend and boyfriend, getting into character as Sandy and Danny, roles played by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 film musical.
AJ says: “We are doing the rumba, so it’s the dance of love. Mollie will be Sandy, she doesn’t know what she wants, and I’ll be Danny.
“It’s going to be great, everyone’s going to know the story and hopefully they’ll get on board with it emotionally.
“I’m sure people will love this dance because they’ll see the chemistry. It’ll be an interesting vibe.”
Although he refuses to say if he and Mollie are an item, he does say: “We will be friends for life, 100%. She has been an amazing partner.
“We have so much fun in the training room, we don’t ever want that to end.
“I’ll definitely be heartbroken at the end of this because it’s such a fantastic year and it’s all going so well. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
And does Mollie feel the same?
AJ says: “Yes, we feel the same way and you’ll see that this week because she gives me a very heartfelt gift. It is something I will cherish.”
Fans thought AJ and Mollie kissed in the shadows after escaping last week’s dance off, but he says: “I don’t remember.”
And how did he feel when the pros, and Claudia Winkleman, chanted “kiss, kiss” as they waited for the quickstep scores? He says: “It was very funny.”
AJ, real name Alex Joseph, grew up in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs. He reached the semis of Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 with dance partner Chloe Hewitt. So why does this partnership with Mollie work so well?
He says: “Mollie and I have fantastic chemistry. We train for 12 hours a day. To still be having a great time, wanting to train even longer just says everything about us. We have such fun, always laughing and giggling.”
Could they get to the final? He says: “We’ll just go out there and enjoy ourselves.” And maybe share a kiss at the end…
