Earle Hyman, star of The Cosby Show and Thundercats, has died at the age of 91.
He had played Russell Huxtable – father of Bill Cosby’s character Cliff – on The Cosby Show in the 1980s and 1990s, despite being just 11 years older than his co-star.
Earle had also voiced Panthro in the children’s TV series Thundercats, appearing in 125 episodes throughout the Eighties.
Earle passed away at his residence in the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, New Jersey, his nephew Rick Ferguson confirmed.
As well as his TV work, Earle was a prominent stage actor, appearing in Broadway productions and smaller plays.
He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Cosby Show in 1986.
